KUWAIT: A security campaign took place in Khaitan in the presence of Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Operations Affairs Maj Gen Jamal Al-Sayegh and participation of Assistant Undersecretary for General Security Maj Gen Ibrahim Al-Tarrah. The area's surroundings were cordoned off and suspicious places were raided. The campaign resulted in the arrest of 255 persons in violation of residency laws, seven wanted on criminal cases, nine on civil cases, 50 absconders, 43 not carrying IDs and 70 with expired residencies. Seventy of the detainees are unskilled laborers. One person was carrying an expired visa, three had entered the country illegally, and two were arrested for vice crimes. All those arrested were sent to concerned authorities.

Drug trafficking

Land border officers arrested a bedoon man for drug trafficking yesterday. A statement by the Interior Ministry's security information department said that Abdullah Huwaidi, bedoon, was arrested following tips about his activity, and he was caught with 253 Captagon tablets. He was sent to concerned authorities.

Jabriya campaign

Hawally governorate's prevention department carried out an inspection campaign on investment building basements in Jabriya to make sure they meet safety and security standards. Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KFSD) said in a statement that many grave violations were discovered that constitute a danger to residents of the buildings. Acting Deputy Director General for the Prevention Sector Brig Khalid Fahd said inspection teams found basements used for wrongful storage, fire equipment that were not operational and maintained, and dangerous wiring that was exposed and laid out randomly.
