KUWAIT: The chairwoman of the Kuwait Society for the Handicapped, Rihab Buresli, on behalf of the board of directors, lauded the amendments the National Assembly made to the handicapped law in regards to the education rights of autistic people and those with Down syndrome and to move the affiliation of schools that care for the handicapped affairs from the Public Authority for the Handicapped Affairs to the Ministry of Education.
The amendments also commit the government to making available training workshops for the handicapped and those who care for them. The amendments coincided with the world’s celebration of World Disabled Day (on December 3rd each year).
Buresli appreciated the cooperation of the government and the National Assembly. She thanked the members of the National Assembly’s Disability Affairs Committee for their efforts.
