International Women’s Group hosts Lebanese ghabga night

KUWAIT: The International Women’s Group (IWG), in collaboration with the Lebanese Embassy and the wife of the Chargé d’Affaires to Kuwait May Mansour, and the Lebanese Ladies’ Society organized the outstanding cultural event ‘Lebanese Ghabqa-Night’ on Sunday, March 17, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The event was opened by Layla Boulos, who welcomed the attendees. The IWG President and wife of the Bulgarian Ambassador, Antonia Dimitrova, gave a welcome speech, congratulating His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti people on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Dimitrova expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Lebanon and thanked Ahmed Arafa and his spouse.

In his opening address, the Chargé d’Affaires Ahmed Arafa, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the President and members of the Executive Board of the International Women’s Group for their effective contribution to the organization of the celebration. He also extended his congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, wishing him good health and well-being, and to the Kuwaiti people for further progress and prosperity.

The event included a musical performance of songs by Fairuz, presented by the artist Najla Al-Faqih, accompanied on the oud by the artist George Tohmeh. A short film about Lebanon entitled “Lebanon in the Eyes of Travelers” was also screened during the event, highlighting the various tourist, historical and cultural aspects of Lebanon.

This was followed by another performance of Fairuz’s songs by the artist Najla Al-Faqih, accompanied by the oud. This was followed by a raffle draw for valuable prizes, including gifts from the Lebanese community. The traditional Lebanese Ramadan “Masaharti” also brought joy and happiness to the hearts of the attendees, inviting them to a food buffet that featured some of the famous Lebanese dishes prepared by the chefs of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, in an atmosphere of Lebanese songs by Fairuz.
