alsalamKUWAIT: Alsalam mentally challenged basketball team was crowned champions after beating Al- Ittihad 23-13 in the final match Tuesday evening during the second local handicapped championship. Al-Taawon finished in third place after defeating Shuhada 23-19. Abdallah Al-Haddan won first place in the epee fencing competition, followed by Faisal Al- Kandary in second and Atel Al-Dousaryy in third.

Meanwhile in the junior category, Fahad Al- Bastaki came first, defeating Suleiman Al-Tamimi and Sanad Al-Bouloushi. Al-Haddad continued his winning streak by taking first place in the flores fencing while Mousa Al-Ajmi was second and Faisal Al-Kandari third. Meanwhile the junior category for the same weapon category saw Suleiman Al-Tamimi crowned champion while Sanad Al-Beloushi and Abdallh Al-Duraie came in second and third respectively.

The bocce games saw Mohammad Al-Mutairi crowned champion in the BC1 category, defeating Shareefa Muhareb while Fahad Al- Babtain ended in third place while the BC2 category was won by Emad Al-Najdi with Shireen Al- Shaheen second and Hani Hussein third. Ayesha Al-Hashash won the BC3 category followed by Athari Al-Muthairi. In the NC4 Amani Isamil was first, Mashael Al-Ajmi second and Tahani Ismail third.

Kuwait Handicapped Sports Club Honorary President Al-Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdallah Al- Sabah lauded the high technical level of the second championship, and the fantastic skills of athletes in the three competitions. She said that these tournaments have a role in improving the players’ levels in all departments. She called upon fans to go to the club and encourage athletes in the upcoming tournaments.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Board of KHSC Shafi Al-Hajiri said the tournament is the best way to prepare athletes for foreign championships the club plans to attend. Al-Hajiri appreciated the role of Information Minister, State Minister for Youth Affairs Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and PSA Director Genreal Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour for their support.
