KUWAIT: The suspect who deliberately ran over policemen last Thursday is a 'member of an organization,' Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah said yesterday, without naming the group. The ministry will check into information to reach facts, then take legal procedures to preserve the rights of its personnel he added.
Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled was speaking during a ceremony to honor the family of Corporal Torky Mohammad Al-Enezi, who was killed following the run over accident, as well as the injured officers. The ministry's security information department quoted Sheikh Mohammad as saying that a psychiatric hospital's certificate does not mean that its holder is not responsible for his behavior.
He said that martyr Enezi will always be a symbol of commitment and loyalty for the sake of the country and public security, and an example to be followed. He said the honoring of his family is a recognition of what the late officer gave in sincere efforts to safeguard Kuwait's security and its citizens' safety.
Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled lauded the effort of security men in protecting the country, and expressed his pride in what the martyr and the injured officers have presented to the country.
Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled also expressed appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah's 'fatherly gesture' towards policemen following the accident, and said "we will remain loyal soldiers in defending the security of the country and safety of its citizens."
