Kuwaiti engineer Meshaal Al-Otaibi

KUWAIT: Kuwaitiengineer Meshaal Al-Otaibi believes Kuwaiti youth's ambition to be a force inthe UN vision of a more peaceful, healthier and more rightful world. He said ina statement that he is the first Kuwaiti and Arab chosen to be an ambassadorfor young leaders among 55,000 participants worldwide from 190 countries by the'One Young World Organization.' Otaibi pointed out that the reason why he waschosen as youth ambassador was for his achievements and contributions to thefield of scientific research in architecture as well as being a younginfluential leading figure in community and Arab world.

He added that hewas invited to attend the 2019 World Youth Summit to be held at the WestminsterPalace and the British Parliament in London to represent Kuwait and the Arabworld, with the participation of many leaders and presidents from around theworld. The 'One Young World Organization' aims to invest in youths and teachthem different skills through training and self-development courses to acquireskills, plus the openings of summer centers, the statement noted.

Otaibi added thatthe summit's goal is to permanently link participants to bring about positivechange in their communities and listen to their views and suggestions to helpthem overcome all the difficulties and obstacles facing them to achieve theirprojects. He stressed importance of awareness in issues of energy conservationand sustainable cities, which he has conducted several researches over and hisquest to raise awareness in the community and bring forth positive change toreduce dependence on fossil fuels and carbon footprint of buildings and usageof renewable energies available for a more sustainable future and a cleanenvironment.

Otaibi isinterested in participating in the New Kuwait 2035 Vision to strengthen therole of Kuwaiti youth in achieving development and leadership in variousfields. Otaibi graduated from the University of Kansas and received his bestdoctoral thesis in architecture from his university in 2017. He was nominatedfor a PhD in architecture and won first place among 500 researchers from 62countries participating in the European conference held in Paris.

In addition, hewas awarded the best Scientific Research Award in the field of architectureamong 600 researchers from 54 participating countries worldwide and second bestin the third North American International Conference held in Washington DC,representing Kuwait with the support and sponsorship of Public Authority forYouth (PAY). - KUNA
