KUWAIT: The Environment Police arrested an Arab tanker truck driver who discharged liquid waste in an open area in Wafra, in violation of article 29 of Kuwait's environment protection law. The man faces up to 10 years in prison if found guilty of harming the environment.


A man was hospitalized following an accident reported at the Jahra Road Friday night. Firefighters had to cut the victim's car open and free him after he became trapped in his wrecked vehicle following a collision with a minibus. Paramedics then rushed the man to Jahra Hospital for treatment. In a similar accident, a female driver was taken to Jahra Hospital following an accident reported at a street located in front of the same hospital.

Traffic campaigns

Traffic police launched several inspection campaigns in various governorates in the period of Jan 8-14, 2017. Security sources said the campaigns resulted in filing 33,638 tickets, impounding 66 vehicles and bikes, arresting 72 motorists, referring 10 expats to deportation, locating two "wanted" vehicles and arresting two wanted people. The sources explained that 9,045 of the tickets were filed in the Capital governorate, 5,524 in Hawally, 4,111 in Ahmadi, 2,457 in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, 4,218 in Jahra and 5,761 in Farwaniya.
