KUWAIT: ControlCase, a leading provider of compliance, information security and risk management solutions has announced that it has re-certified the Equinix Dubai data center with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) certification. Equinix had secured the certification last year for its data center in Dubai and having secured it again this year only fortifies the company's capability and commitment to providing the most advance security to the data of its clients.

The PCI-DSS certification is a mandatory standard developed by the PCI Security Standards Council, a body founded by the world's major credit card providers, for any organisation that stores, processes or transmits cardholder data. It has been established to prevent criminals from being able to abuse the storage, transmission and processing of confidential transaction data. Equinix's compliance with this standard will help its clients meet the stringent regulations, contributing to a more secure global e-commerce environment.

ControlCase awarded Equinix with the certification after it found its Dubai data center followed the stringent requirements governing the housing of credit card transactions, similar to its other counterparts around the world.

"PCI DSS is a global information security standard that ensures the safe handling of sensitive information and is intended to help organizations proactively protect customer account data. By achieving compliance with the standard, Equinix demonstrates its dedication to offer secure environment in line with international standards as set by the PCI Council," said Afy Merchant, Director, International Sales and Delivery at ControlCase.

Equinix Dubai IBX serves as an interconnection hub for the Middle East, extensively serving financial and banking sector. The facility houses the UAE Internet Exchange (UAE-IX), which is a neutral Internet traffic exchange platform that interconnects global networks, network operators and content providers.

"As electronic payment traffic continues to grow rapidly, so too do risks such as credit card fraud, the most common form of identity theft, and the misuse of stolen credit card details. The security of business-critical information within an Equinix data center is absolutely essential to enable secure operations. With this compliance we enable our clients to easily meet the PCI-DSS requirements, allowing them to focus entirely on their core business," said Karim Rizki, Operations Manager, Equinix MENA.
