Kuwait Google Cloud explore AI and data analytics partnership

KUWAIT: Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies to improve efficiency, transparency and the overall quality of public services. Her remarks came during a high-level meeting held Thursday with Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar and Google Cloud’s General Manager of Data Analytics Sales Specialist, Thomas Remy, who is currently visiting Kuwait along with an accompanying delegation.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in the fields of advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI), as part of broader efforts to accelerate digital integration across various government sectors. Dr Al-Mashaan stressed the importance of leveraging Google Cloud’s AI-powered tools to support the Ministry’s strategic goals, particularly in infrastructure project planning, predictive maintenance, and optimal resource allocation.

She added that advanced data analytics can play a pivotal role in formulating evidence-based policies and gaining deeper insights from field data, contributing to more effective public service delivery. Minister Al-Omar, for his part, highlighted the vital role of robust digital infrastructure and inter-ministerial collaboration in facilitating the successful adoption of emerging technologies. He underlined that seamless data exchange between government entities is a cornerstone for boosting institutional performance and accelerating progress on national priorities.

The meeting comes within the framework of Kuwait’s growing partnership with Google, aimed at harnessing the latest digital innovations to advance the country’s development agenda and reinforce its standing as a regional hub for technology and innovation. During the discussions, Remy and his team presented Google Cloud’s experience in delivering secure, scalable AI and data analytics platforms. They emphasized the potential of these solutions to provide actionable insights and drive operational excellence within the Ministry of Public Works.

The Ministry also noted the significance of building local digital capabilities and investing in talent development to support long-term technological growth. Major General Jamal Al-Foudari, Director General of the General Traffic Department, also participated in the meeting. He reviewed potential applications of AI in traffic management, including analyzing traffic patterns, forecasting congestion, and improving road safety and flow. The talks reflect Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to integrate innovation into government operations and strengthen digital transformation across the public sector. - KUNA
