KUWAIT: Saudi Arabia’s Khaleej handball club defeated Qatar’s Al-Arabi in the most exciting final match during which the teams ended regulation in a draw at 27-27, so they resorted to two extra times, the first ended 28-28 and the second 30-30. The teams played two more extra times the first of which ended 32-32, then Khaleej finally took the title with the score of 35-55 in the final extra time. Third place was taken by the hosts Qadisiya from Kuwait by defeating Kuwait Club 32-31.
President of Arab and Saudi Handball Federations Fadhel Al-Nimer said Qadisiya succeeded in organizing a fantastic championship in all aspects.
Al-Nimer appreciated the role of the organizing committee for making it easy for all participating teams.
He said for Khaleej Club to win the final match indicates the development of the game in Saudi Arabia, adding fans has a major role in motivating Khaleej Club to give outstanding performance from the start of the tournament.
President of Khaleej Club Eng Alaa Al-Hamal said he cannot describe his feelings after winning the title for the first time.
