KUWAIT: The Public Authority for Youth announced that it will hold various activities in connection with the 46th Kuwait International Book Fair which commenced on Tuesday at the Mishref fairgrounds. The fair will continue until Dec 2, 2023 during which several cultural, social and scientific activities will be held.
Authority spokeswoman Asrar Al-Ansari said that the activities give an interactive space for the youth, noting that lectures, dialogue sessions and workshops will be held with the participation of a group of distinguished youth.
Al-Ansari stated that the most prominent of these activities include panel discussions on cultural topics such as “comics”, “puppet theater”, “story telling” and “discover theater for the first time”. Several senior writers and novelists will be hosted as part of the fair through panel sessions. Special events for children and Kuwaiti youth interested in culture will also be hosted.
She pointed out that the Authority’s participation stems from the fact that the exhibition constitutes an important field for the exchange of ideas and experiences with young people. “It represents an opportunity for them to explore new horizons of thought and creativity and contribute to the development of cultural awareness and encourage reading and continuous learning,” she said. She said these efforts are important to support and empower young people.
The initiative also reflects the Authority’s keenness to support cultural projects in the country as it currently sponsors the Literature Academy initiative held by the Kuwaiti Writers Association. “It offers a number of courses and workshops in various literary arts with the aim of refining young talents in the field of creative writing,” she explained.
Al-Ansari said that the Authority cooperates with various state institutions and civil society organizations to organize unique programs that contribute to providing creative spaces for young people in various fields. She invited people to visit its booth in Hall No 7 and participate in the events. She praised the cooperation of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters in this regard, congratulating the great cultural edifice on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its establishment, which has a leading role in promoting culture and arts in the country.—KUNA
