KUWAIT: The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) announced on Wednesday the launch of activities for the Science Month 2023 in Kuwait which will be held for the second year in a row and will continue until next Dec 12. The Foundation stated in a press release that Science Month aims to commemorate the establishment of the Foundation in December 1976 and is an opportunity to highlight the scientific domain in the country and motivate young people to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics specializations to build a knowledge-based and more sustainable Kuwait.

The statement explained that the events are of great importance because they serve as dynamic platforms to celebrate the human passion for knowledge, innovation and exploration. They also focus on interest in the world of science, which makes scientific knowledge accessible to everyone and attractive to individuals of all ages. He stated that the events include presenting the latest achievements and discoveries in addition to activities that encourage practical learning, critical thinking, cooperation, and bringing together scientists, researchers, teachers, and the public to enhance dialogue between them. The month also highlights the importance of science in facing global challenges.

He stressed that these activities play a pioneering role in enhancing scientific knowledge, igniting the passion for discovery, and paving the way for a brighter and more innovative future. He stated that Science Month this year also includes a variety of topics, namely earth, astronomy, nutrition, oil and energy, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and materials science.

He pointed out that this event was made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Foundation and its affiliated centers, including the Scientific Advancement Publishing (ASPD), the Scientific Center (TSCK), the Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI), and the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC). The statement said that the Foundation’s centers along with many research and academic institutions, will organize a large number of activities, workshops and seminars throughout Kuwait.

He stated that this year’s events witness an international program in which the Foundation coordinates regionally to anticipate the environmental future in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and with the participation of representatives from Kuwait and the region. The statement explained that the events will witness the participation of many companies in the sector and public benefit associations, in addition to a number of initiatives such as the Kuwaiti Environment Lens and the Kuwait Information Technology Society (KITS).
