MoH keen on holding specialized medical conferences: Al-Awadhi

45th annual conference on ‘Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery’ kicks off in Kuwait

KUWAIT: Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi stressed on Tuesday the ministry’s keenness to organize specialized medical conferences to enhance cooperation and share experiences among specialists to improve methods of prevention and treatment of diseases of all kinds. This will also help provide the best healthcare to all citizens and residents, he said.

Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Supportive Medical Services Affairs at the Ministry Dr Abdullah Al-Faras was delivering a speech on Tuesday on behalf of the health minister at the opening ceremony of the 45th annual Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery Conference. The conference was organized by the ministry in which an elite group of specialized doctors from around the world participated.

Al-Faras said that such conferences enhance maximum benefit in the scientific and medical fields in addition to building cooperation to discuss matters of common interest which focuses on developing medical performance and medical care provided to people. He explained that the conference discusses microscopic ear operations, cochlear implants, diagnosis of diseases and surgeries of snoring and sleep apnea.

The conference also discussed some complex medical cases in addition to conducting operations on the sidelines of the conference and shared experiences with participating and visiting international talents. He added that the ministry is interested in the topics that were discussed at the conference and it is following up the recommendations made by the participants and researchers in order to work on transferring them on the ground until they come into effect.

Director of the Zain Center and the Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Center Dr Mutlaq Al-Saihan said in a similar speech that the participation of a group of the most prominent pioneers, experts and specialists from all over the world in the conference, reflects the importance of the conference and adds value to the activities of the conference.

Al-Saihan, who also holds the position of chairman of the Cochlear Implant Committee and chairman of the Ear, Nose and Throat Council, added that Kuwait continues to be a pioneer in hosting scientific and medical conferences as part of its continuous endeavor to develop its health system to provide advanced medical services.

Kuwait’s wise leadership believes that healthcare is an integral part of the comprehensive system for building a modern and advanced state, he said. He stated that the conference will also discuss the latest findings in delicate ear surgeries, cochlear implants, hearing devices, nasal and pharyngeal surgeries, surgeries to clear suffocation during sleep and their treatments, and reconstructive and cosmetic head and neck surgeries in order to keep up with the advanced developments in medical sciences and generate community awareness and knowledge dissemination.

He stated that the conference’s activities include lectures, live performances and training workshops for doctors, trainees, audiology specialists accredited with the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties. — KUNA
