KUNA launches competition for its journalists

KUWAIT: Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) officially on Wednesday launched its competition for journalistic excellence, aiming to motivate its employees to foster creativity, innovation and professional development. This competition offers annual recognition and rewards for outstanding achievements in journalism, including the best journalistic investigation, the best news report and the best interview.

These awards are open to employees working within KUNA’s editorial sector and those from other divisions of the agency who are interested in participating. The submitted works must address topics of local significance within Kuwait or pertain to Arab countries. It is essential that the entries have not been previously published in KUNA or any other media outlets.

Eligible participants should not have previously entered similar competitions, either within Kuwait or elsewhere. Additionally, the submitted work must be in the Arabic language and have a minimum word count of 400 words. Each employee is allowed to submit only one piece of work, and it should not breach any legal regulations. Submissions should be in PDF format and sent to the email address [email protected]. Works that do not meet the specified criteria will be disqualified.

All entries, whether they be reports, investigations, or interviews, must address important local and Arab developments. This can include areas such as economics, technology, sports, culture and various awareness campaigns, with a particular emphasis on the dangers of drugs and their adverse effects on society. It is crucial that the submitted work does not promote any particular party or ideology and aligns with KUNA’s general editorial policy.

The awards for the best journalistic investigation, news report, and interview will be determined by a jury assembled by KUNA’s administration. Submissions should be sent to the aforementioned email address, with the deadline for participation being Jan 31, 2024.
