Kuwaiti leadership welcomes officials from UAE, Yemen

Kuwaiti, Yemeni foreign ministries sign deals to strengthen diplomatic ties

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Humaid Obaid Khalifa Obaid Abushibs, President of the UAE Accountability Authority, at Al-Seif Palace on Sunday, during his visit to Kuwait.

Later in the day, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also hosted Abushibs and his accompanying delegation. The meetings were attended by Essam Al-Roumi, President of the State Audit Bureau, along with other senior officials from Kuwait.

In a separate session, His Highness the Crown Prince welcomed Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Shaya Mohsin Al-Zindani, and his delegation at Al-Seif Palace. This was attended by key Kuwaiti officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, Lt Gen Jamal Mohammad Al-Thiyab, Director of the Crown Prince’s Office, Mazen Issa Al-Issa, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs at the Crown Prince’s Diwan, and Ambassador Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Baker, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs.

On the same day, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, met with Minister Al-Zindani to discuss several important bilateral matters. The talks particularly focused on enhancing security cooperation and exploring opportunities for the exchange of expertise and training between the two nations. The meeting was also attended by Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya.

In a subsequent statement, Sheikh Fahad emphasized the deep-rooted, longstanding relations between Kuwait and Yemen. Minister Al-Zindani, in turn, expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, reiterating the strength of bilateral ties between the two countries.

Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya met with his Yemeni counterpart Dr Shaya Al-Zindani as part of the official visit being conducted by the minister and his accompanying delegation to Kuwait.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen the close bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, as well as the latest developments in regional and international affairs and the ongoing developments in the region.

Following the meeting, two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed: one establishing a framework for bilateral consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries, and another between the Kuwait Diplomatic Institute (part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait) and the Yemeni Diplomatic Institute (under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Yemen). These agreements reflect the mutual desire of both countries to advance and strengthen their bilateral relations. — KUNA
