Ministries coordinate to regulate nurseries

KUWAIT: Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of Family and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah held a coordination meeting with Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei to address regulatory issues concerning nurseries, particularly those operating without proper licensing or in violation of official standards. In a statement, the Ministry of Social Affairs said the meeting resulted in an agreement for the Ministry of Education to provide the Ministry of Social Affairs with a comprehensive database of schools and centers that include children below kindergarten age.

The two ministries also agreed to form joint inspection teams comprising representatives from the Ministries of Social Affairs, Education, and Health, as well as the Kuwait Municipality, the General Fire Force, and other relevant regulatory bodies. These teams will be tasked with identifying violations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and taking appropriate measures to guarantee a safe environment for children. The Ministry stressed the shared commitment of both ministries to protecting children’s rights and upholding the quality of services provided in early childhood education institutions, in line with national child welfare policies. — KUNA
