Winner of Kuwait Times Instagram giveaway announced

KUWAIT: Abdullah Malek Al-Hameed, the winner of the Kuwait Times KD 500 draw, visited the Kuwait Times headquarters on Monday to collect his prizes, which included an exclusive merchandise bag, a guided tour of the Kuwait Times offices and printing press and KD 500. Al-Hameed was randomly selected from over 6,000 participants in the competition, designed to attract a broader audience to the Kuwait Times Archive account (@kuwaittimes.archive).

To enter, participants were required to follow the Kuwait Times Archive Instagram account, share a video announcing the competition, and tag two people in the comments. Entrants also needed to be residents or citizens of Kuwait with a valid bank account. The draw significantly boosted Kuwait Times’ social media presence, with the account’s followers increasing from nearly 4,000 to over 10,000.

Al-Hameed expressed his gratitude for the prize and appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the Kuwait Times team and its operations during his visit. After its main account (@kuwaittimes) was suspended by Meta in late December, Kuwait Times began posting daily news and features on the temporary @kuwaittimes.archive account while actively working to restore its original account. With nearly 250,000 followers on Instagram, Kuwait Times has become a leading source for news updates tailored to Kuwait’s growing English-speaking community.

The platform has been at the forefront of covering events in Gaza since the onset of the Zionist genocide in October 2023, providing accurate information despite challenges posed by censorship from social media companies. Its steadfast commitment to truth has earned the trust of followers, who regard it as a reliable source for news.
