Al-Roumi urges Kuwait oil sector to focus on innovation, efficiency

Oil minister reviews 2024 achievements, future plans with ministry officials

KUWAIT: Oil Minister Tariq Al-Roumi chaired a meeting with the Ministry of Oil leaders during which the ministry’s achievements and the most important projects implemented during 2024 were reviewed, in addition to discussing work plans for the current year.

The Oil Ministry said in a press statement Sunday that the meeting was held at the ministry building in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Sheikh Dr Nimer Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah, assistant undersecretaries, directors of departments in the ministry, and Director of Public Relations and Petroleum Media Sheikha Tamader Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

It explained that Al-Roumi praised the efforts made by the ministry and the various programs and departments in the ministry as well as the prominent role undertaken by the ministry in supporting all paths of national and development work and advancing them towards achieving more progress and growth to continue the comprehensive development process. Al-Roumi praised, according to the statement, the efforts of the ministry’s employees and what they showed in terms of efficiency, responsibility and keenness in implementing the work, and promised to overcome difficulties to realize more achievements for the Ministry of Oil in the future.

He added, “We are certain that the challenges we face in the oil sector require us to continue working as one team, focusing on innovation and enhancing efficiency and transparency in everything we do.” He stressed that digital transformation has become an indispensable necessity in the oil and gas sector, as the ministry seeks to apply the latest digital technologies to improve operational efficiency, enhance transparency and reduce operating costs, stressing that these efforts aim to raise the level of institutional work and achieve the goals of the New Kuwait 2035 vision.

The statement quoted the Undersecretary of Oil Sheikh Nimr Al-Sabah as saying that the ministry is proceeding to develop its work and direct its efforts to achieve more positive results related to the development of the oil and gas sector within Kuwait, “therefore, work has been done to develop the five-year strategy of the Ministry of Oil for the period 2024-2028.”

Sheikh Nimr Al-Sabah stressed that the ministry is committed to implementing its five-year strategy, which aims to achieve positive results that contribute to the development of the oil and gas sector within Kuwait, explaining that this strategy comes within the ministry’s efforts to develop its work and keep pace with global developments in the oil industry in a way that enhances Kuwait’s position as a major source of energy regionally and internationally.

He stated that the Ministry of Oil is proceeding to enhance work efforts Institutional and raising performance efficiency in line with the vision of New Kuwait 2023, as the ministry seeks to adopt policies that support sustainability and innovation, with a focus on developing national cadres and enhancing cooperation with local and international entities to achieve the desired goals.

He said that the ministry continues to implement plans to support digital transformation and information technology in the management of oil operations, which increases efficiency and effectiveness and contributes to providing a stimulating work environment for innovation to meet challenges in the oil sector, in addition to upgrading the supervisory and technical tasks carried out by the ministry related to work related to development and exploration wells, security and safety. — KUNA
