KUWAIT: Kuwait marks the first anniversary of HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s leadership on Friday. Taking office on Dec 20, 2023 as Kuwait’s 17th Amir, HH Sheikh Meshal pledged to prioritize national unity, sustainable development and social progress.

Over the past year, HH the Amir emphasized economic growth, infrastructure development, digitization, transparency and combating corruption. He championed youth empowerment, women’s rights and the integration of people with disabilities, while advocating social justice and equal opportunities.

In defense, HH the Amir focused on enhancing military readiness, cybersecurity and collaboration between military and civilian institutions. Regionally, he strengthened Gulf unity through official visits and hosting the GCC Summit, while advancing cooperation on Arab and international issues, including Palestine.

HH the Amir inaugurated several key projects, including Sabah Al-Salem University City, and engaged with diverse community groups. Internationally, he fostered dialogue and partnerships, signing agreements with Turkey and hosting high-profile global leaders.
