NEW DELHI: Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday as part of an official visit aimed at enhancing ties between the two friendly nations. Al-Yahya, accompanied by a high-level delegation, conveyed greetings from Kuwait’s leadership, including HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. He extended Kuwait’s best wishes for India’s continued progress and prosperity.
During the meeting, both officials discussed the strong bilateral relations between Kuwait and India, exploring ways to strengthen collaboration across various fields. Al-Yahya emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to advancing deeper ties, while Modi acknowledged the historical and cooperative bond between the two nations. Later, Al-Yahya held official talks with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation and addressing mutual interests. Both ministers highlighted their
nations’ historic friendship and shared aspirations for a future of greater progress and partnership.
The talks also covered pressing regional and global issues, with a particular focus on the Palestinian situation. The two sides stressed the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to halt escalation and promote peace and stability. They reiterated their shared commitment to advancing security and stability both regionally and internationally.
A significant outcome of the talks was the signing of a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint committee for bilateral cooperation, marking a new milestone in Kuwait-India relations. Al-Yahya praised the decades-long partnership between the two nations, while Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s pride in its ties with Kuwait and its commitment to deepening collaboration.
