AOU conference to discuss sustainable and smart cities

KUWAIT: The Arab Open University (AOU) announced that it will organize a conference on “Smart Management and Innovation for Sustainable Cities” from November 19 to 21 at its headquarters in Kuwait, under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The university’s president in the Arab world, Dr Mohammad Al-Zakri, said in a press statement on Monday that the conference aims to deepen understanding of the basic aspects of smart cities, ensure their compatibility with the United Nations’ sustainable development goals, and facilitate cooperative dialogues between all concerned parties.

Al-Zakri added that the conference also aims to encourage strategic transformation and the use of technology in enhancing infrastructure and cooperation between experts, leaders, and the academic sector. He explained that the conference will focus on smart cities and innovation and discuss the integration of sustainable development goals and technological progress while motivating and guiding participants with a deep understanding that enables them to implement smart city projects.

Participants will also discuss the strategic promotion of smart cities and emerging technologies through the brand strategy and interaction. Dr Al-Zakri stated that the conference will witness a large participation of scientists and experts who specialize in smart city management in addition to decision-makers, government officials, architects, and civil engineers with technology innovators, environmental organizations, educational institutions, investors, financing companies, media, international delegations, and interested members of society. — KUNA
