ISTANBUL: Director General of Kuwait National Library Siham Al-Azmi visited the Ottoman State Archives and Libraries in Istanbul Friday to discuss ways of cooperation between the two sides in the fields of archiving and documentation.

The visit, which came in response to an invitation by Deputy Director of the Ottoman State Archives and Libraries Sebahattin Bayram, focused on a draft cooperation protocol and the preparations for a joint exhibition of Ottoman manuscripts related to Kuwait and its rulers, Azmi told KUNA after the visit.

She praised the distinguished cooperation between Turkey and Kuwait in all fields. Director of the Department of Foreign Relations and Publicity Jawad Ikliji gave the delegation an explanation about the progress of work in the library and the nature of the documents and manuscripts it contains. Some important documents were shared, some of which were signed and sealed by Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah.

Ikliji also expressed the institution’s full readiness to cooperate with the State of Kuwait with all the documents and manuscripts it possesses. The Deputy Director General of the Library presented souvenirs to Director General Al-Azmi bearing the signature of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah. Methods of research in the electronic archive were presented, and then a tour of the manuscripts gallery was given. — KUNA
