New maternity a qualitative addition to health system

KUWAIT: Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr Ahmad Al-Awadi, said that the new maternity hospital is a qualitative addition to the health care system in the country and enhances the Ministry’s ability to provide distinguished and comprehensive medical services. The Health Minister, in a press statement after a field tour of the new maternity hospital project in the Sabah specialized medical area on Monday, expressed his confidence that the hospital will contribute significantly to improving the health care services provided to women and children, stressing the importance of this project in enhancing the capabilities of the health sector.

The minister discussed with the specialists from the Ministry of Health during the tour the details of the operation of the hospital and ensuring the readiness of the necessary devices and supplies to provide high-quality medical services, indicating that the visit comes within the framework of a keenness to follow up on the implementation of large health projects and to ensure their readiness to operate according to the highest international standards.

The tour comes as a prelude to the operation of the hospital within the framework of strengthening the health infrastructure in the country and developing the medical services provided, as it is one of the main projects included in the development plan. It is located on an area of 65,000 sq m, while the total area of the building covers 400,357 sq m.

The hospital is designed according to the latest international standards in the field of diagnosis and treatment of gynecological and obstetric diseases, including the specifications of environmentally friendly and energy-saving green buildings. It has a large capacity of up to 789 beds. It has 59 delivery rooms and 28 rooms for operations, 81 outpatient clinics, and 80 percent of the rooms have a sea view, which contributes to providing a comfortable environment for visitors, as well as pharmacies and specialized laboratories to meet all the needs of the patients. — KUNA
