Minister, high-level Chinese delegation inspect major ports

KUWAIT: Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr Noura Al-Mashaan conducted an inspection visit to the ports of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Shuaiba, Shuwaikh and Doha, accompanied by a high-level Chinese government delegation consisting of experts and engineers specializing in developmental projects.

The ministry of public works said in a press release that Mashaan, along with the Chinese delegation, toured these sites accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei and senior engineers and officials from the ministry of public works who specialize in major government projects.

The ministry clarified that the Chinese delegation’s visit comes as part of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries during the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to China in September. During this visit, fruitful official discussions were held with Chinese President Xi Jinping concerning the establishment and development mechanisms of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project.

The ministry reported that Mashaan exchanged expertise and proposals with the head and members of the visiting delegation and conducted in-depth technical and field discussions with them, focusing on the importance of documenting constructional and economic relations related to the implementation of large developmental projects in the country.

The parties discussed a range of desired proposals and visions that would achieve the ambitious level set by the senior political leadership to proceed with arranging and laying the foundations for the future plan to implement the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project. On Monday, Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya held in-depth discussions with the Chinese delegation, focusing on the importance of documenting technical, constructional and economic relations related to the implementation of large developmental projects in Kuwait. — KUNA
