17th Amir’s Cup win for Qadisiya Sports Club

KUWAIT: Qadsia Sports Club claimed their 17th Amir’s Cup title, surpassing Al-Arabi Sports Club and Kuwait Sports Club, by defeating Al-Salmiya 1-0 on Tuesday. The Amir’s Cup final, held at Jaber International Stadium, began at a slow pace. Salmiya controlled the first 20 minutes as Qadsia adopted a conservative and cautious strategy, keeping their defense in place and allowing Salmiya to operate within Qadsia’s third of the field.

Midway through the first half, Qadsia began to advance and created a few chances, but the match remained goalless at halftime. The second half continued with Qadsia on the attack, making the game more exciting and intense. Defenders on both sides had to be more aggressive to protect their goals.

In the 70th minute, Salmiya’s Issaka Abudu Diarra received a second yellow card and was sent off. Despite being down a player, Salmiya almost scored shortly after the game resumed. In the 83rd minute, Qadsia’s Rashid Al-Dousari was also shown a red card.

Both teams continued to exchange attacks, but Qadsia broke the deadlock two minutes before the end of regulation. Qadsia’s forward Ibrahima Tandia scored from close range after Salmiya’s keeper deflected the ball towards Alex Lima, who capitalized on the opportunity. Salmiya had a golden chance to equalize, but Qadsia’s goalkeeper made a brilliant save, securing the title for his team.
