AAW receives UK, Palestinian envoys
In support of private Palestinian companies

KUWAIT: Chairman and CEO of Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial Co (AAW), Faisal Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa, received the British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis, and the Palestinian Ambassador to Kuwait Rami Tahboub, on April 28, 2024. The meeting was attended by delegates from the Palestinian and British embassies, as well as the head of “Tasdeer” program Nassim Nour, representative at the British Consulate General in Jerusalem, Michael Sansour, and the Strategic Consultant Shawqi Makhtoob.

The parties discussed collaboration opportunities within the “Tasdeer” program, to support Palestinian private sector companies and bring Palestinian products to the Kuwaiti markets. Tasdeer is a private sector development program, funded by the British government. It works to expedite the movement of Palestinian goods across borders and reduce transaction costs, improve the trade-enabling environment, strengthen the private sector’s export competitiveness, and improve customs capacity.

AAW Chairman and CEO Faisal Ali Al Mutawa said: “We were honored today by the visit of the Palestinian and British delegations. We discussed the importance of supporting the Palestinian private sector and boosting exports of Palestinian products to contribute to their economic development.” He added: “We are committed to supporting Palestinian private companies, enhancing their export competitiveness, and easing the burdens imposed by the occupation’s blockade.

I thank the Palestinian and British Ambassadors for their visit, and we wish them success in “Tasdeer” program and all their endeavors.” The British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis said, “I am grateful for the warm welcome extended by Faisal Al Mutawa from AAW to our Tasdeer program colleagues who visited from Jerusalem last week.

Increasing exports of Palestinian products to Kuwait will help support the resilience of the Palestinian economy in general and private sector in particular, create more jobs and offer an even greater range of top-quality products for consumers here in Kuwait.” AAW is one of the oldest and largest retail and distribution companies in the Middle East, with world-class operations in different sectors. The company is a distributor of over 200 global brands in Kuwait’s surging wholesale and retail market.
