Egypt honors Amir on state visit

President Sisi awards Sheikh Mishal Order of the Nile after official talks

CAIRO: HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his accompanying delegation arrived in Egypt on a state visit on Tuesday. HH the Amir was received by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and senior officials.

An official reception ceremony was held at the Federal Palace in honor of HH the Amir on the occasion of his state visit to Egypt. Upon the arrival of the Kuwaiti official delegation to the Federal Palace, trumpets were blown and artillery fired 21 rounds to welcome HH the Amir. The national anthem of Kuwait and Egypt were also played. HH the Amir greeted top Egyptian officials and Sisi welcomed the Kuwaiti delegation.

HH the Amir and President Sisi held an official session of talks at Al-Ittihadiya Presidential Palace. During the talks, both sides touched on the deep-rooted bilateral ties between the two countries and ways of boosting cooperation to serve the aspirations of the two peoples. The two sides agreed on supporting the process of joint Arab action that brings together the Arab countries and ways to develop relations in all fields. Latest regional and global developments were also touched on during the talks.

Sisi then awarded HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal the Order of the Nile, the most prestigious Egyptian medal given to presidents, kings and amirs in recognition of their roles. The order was given to HH the Amir at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, to reflect deep-rooted relations between the two sisterly countries and enhance the bonds of friendship with HH the Amir. Sisi later held a banquet in honor of HH the Amir and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of the state visit. — KUNA
