Burgan Bank raises public awareness of financial security during Eid holiday
As part of bank’s commitment to the CBK’s ‘Let’s Be Aware’ campaign

KUWAIT: Burgan Bank continues to play an active role in supporting the “Let’s Be Aware”(Diraya) banking awareness campaign, which was launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) in cooperation with Kuwaiti banks. The bank is introducing a series of seasonal awareness themes to promote the culture of financial literacy and accountability as part of its comprehensive social responsibility program. This initiative serves as a call to action, as both an educational and an empowerment tool dedicated to resonating with a diversified audience on their unique journeys of pursuing financial goals.

For the first theme, Burgan Bank is spreading general financial safety advice and travel tips to all fragments of society, especially in light of the high travel season of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday. The bank’s awareness efforts include informing the public about the main phishing and scamming trends that are on the rise around the world. In addition, Burgan is reminding all individuals about the possible risks of failing to follow safety instructions and abide by safety requirements while performing banking transactions, payments, and other services, in Kuwait or abroad.

Speaking about the importance of financial knowledge, Kholoud Al-Feeli, Deputy General Manager – Marketing and Communication at Burgan Bank, said: “This Eid Al-Fitr holiday season is a golden opportunity for all individuals to develop and hone their understanding of financial and banking principles, to be able to make well-informed decisions that lead to financial security in the short and long term. To this end, we continue to dedicate efforts and work together with the CBK and KBA to support the ‘Diraya’ financial awareness campaign by spreading sound financial practices to different members of society. We call on all individuals and families planning for their vacations this Eid to heed our recommendations and protect their finances while on holiday.”

To ensure that customers and individuals are safe and can identify scamming attempts, Burgan Bank focused its banking awareness efforts on highlighting the most common financial fraud schemes that can come in many forms, such as text messages, emails, calls, social media posts, etc. In this regard, the Bank warned against replying to suspicious emails or SMS messages with personal and financial information, as well as urged all individuals to handle electronic links with vigilance, cautioning them to avoid accessing their bank’s website unless connected to a secure Wi-Fi network.

In addition, Burgan Bank recommended setting a strong password, changing it regularly, and using two-factor authentication whenever possible. Finally, Burgan’s awareness content encouraged individuals to ensure their cards remain valid throughout their vacation, advising them to examine their account statements to rule out questionable transactions upon their return to Kuwait.

It serves to note that Burgan’s data protection and cyber security systems are regularly updated to keep customer assets safe and protected from unauthorized access or cyber attacks. The Bank also continues to dedicate efforts to educating all segments of society about the core life skill of financial literacy to make sound financial decisions. These efforts reflect its unwavering commitment to continue supporting CBK’s Diraya campaign.
