New editorial management team at Kuwait Times

KUWAIT: Kuwait Times has appointed the following staff members to new positions on the editorial management team:

Shakir Reshamwala - Managing Editor

Shakir Reshamwala has more than 22 years of experience in the field of journalism. After earning a bachelor’s degree in commerce, he worked for a travel magazine before joining Kuwait Times in 2003. He is also the front page editor. Reshamwala is a 2013 World Press Institute and 2017 East-West Center Senior Journalists Seminar fellow. He is also a competitive Scrabble player and has represented Kuwait at many world championships in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle East. A budding artist, Reshamwala painted a mural on a wall of Kuwait Times’ coworking space.

Faten Omar - Deputy Managing Editor

Faten Omar has been working for Kuwait Times as a reporter since 2014. She earned her BA in Journalism and Media from Petra University in 2009, and an MA in Media from Middle East University in 2012. Since 2012, Omar has been working as a journalist and freelancer for local, regional and international news agencies. She has reported for Xinhua, Raseef22, Rai Al-Youm and Al-Ghad, as well as a translator for the New York Times. In Kuwait, Omar worked as a reporter at Al-Kuwaityah and as managing editor of the local section at Al-Mustaqbal newspaper.

Chidi Emmanuel Ekeh - Deputy Managing Editor

Chidi Emmanuel Ekeh has more than 20 years of experience in the field of media/journalism. After earning bachelor’s degrees in statistics/maths and mass communication, he worked for media agencies before joining Kuwait Times in 2004. He is an editor and a writer. Chidi also has a diploma in investigation and computer application and has traveled to over 30 countries while doing his duties. In Kuwait Times, he works as an editor and a writer. He has written many articles on various topics including features and news reports.
