Bahrain, Saudi sign two MoUs on transportation

MANAMA: Bahrain and Saudi Arabia on Sunday signed two memoranda of understanding in the field of the future of transportation and road safety and maintenance to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the transport and logistics services sector.

The Bahraini News Agency (BNA) said that the Bahraini side was represented in the signing by the Minister of Transportation and Communications, Mohammed Al-Kaabi, and the Minister of Works, Ibrahim Al-Hawaj, while the Saudi side was represented by the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Saleh Al-Jasser. The agency explained that the memorandum (the future of transport) aims to enhancing joint work, research and development in the field of future trends in transport and logistics services and exchanging experiences related to establishing, operating and maintaining modern modes of transportation and its infrastructure for the benefit and prosperity of the two peoples and the two countries.

On this occasion, Minister Al-Kaabi praised the strong fraternal relations that link Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. He stressed Bahrain’s keenness to enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in the field of transport and logistics services, and enhancing the strategic partnership between the two kingdoms, which contributes to enhancing trade and developing the logistics sector in the region.

The agency added that with regard to the memorandum of understanding in the field of road safety and maintenance, Minister Al-Hawaj said that the MoU comes within efforts to boost the exchange of experiences and cooperation between the two countries. It will contribute to achieving more joint cooperation in infrastructure development and road safety and maintenance by unifying efforts for continued progress, development and integration in a way that serves the aspirations of the two countries and peoples.

The minister explained that cooperation between the two parties will include the exchange of experiences and knowledge in everything related to road safety and the best modern technologies used to evaluate and maintain them, such as survey and evaluation systems, as well as the exchange of scientific and technical information and the exchange of visits by engineers, experts and technicians specialized in the field of roads and others.

He praised the fraternal bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their continued keenness to strengthen relations in various fields, including those related to joint work in Infrastructure development field. — KUNA
