Indian Embassy holds blood donation camp jointly with Blood Bank, IDF

KUWAIT: Minister of Health Dr Ahmed Al-Awadhi said on Thursday that the percentage of blood from donation campaigns in Kuwait has increased from 15 percent to 24 percent. Compared to previous years, the number of blood bags collected in 2023 reached 93,000 blood units, an increase of 5 percent over the year 2022. rMinister Al-Awadhi expressed his appreciation in a press statement following the launch of a blood donation campaign held by the Blood Transfusion Services Department at the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Indian Doctors Forum (IDF) in the presence of Indian Ambassador Dr Adarsh Swaika. rIn addition to Dr Al-Awadhi and Dr Swaika, director of the Adan Hospital Dr Hussein Jasser, Director of Kuwait Central Blood Bank Dr Reem Al-Radwan, Medical Director of Kuwait Central Blood Bank Dr Hanan Al-Awadhi and IDF President Dr Diwakar Chaluvaiah were also present during the campaign.rA large number of members from the Indian community participated in the event as donors. Every year, several thousand Indian citizens working in Kuwait selflessly donate blood. The camp showcased the readiness of the Indian community to contribute to Kuwait’s requirements, according to a press release issued by the Indian Embassy.rThe Indian Embassy, Indian Doctors Forum and various Indian community associations in Kuwait organize blood donation and free medical camps in Kuwait from time to time. In 2023, Embassy along-with IDF organized three3 free medical camps. Over 50 blood donation camps were held by various Indian associations in Kuwait in 2023. The event also highlighted the contribution of the Indian community in the medical field. Currently, there are a large number of Indian doctors, paramedical and nurses from India working in both government and private hospitals of Kuwait.
