KUWAIT: Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said that Kuwait is following with great concern the tension occurring between Somalia and Ethiopia resulting from the signing of the illegal memorandum of understanding between Ethiopia and the Somaliland region as it is a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Somalia.

This came in a speech delivered by Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah remotely on, Wednesday, at the meeting of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level in its extraordinary session to support Somalia in confronting the attack on its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah added that the State of Kuwait expresses its full solidarity and support for the Somali cabinet’s decision rejecting the illegal memorandum of understanding.

The State of Kuwait also expresses its rejection and condemnation of any agreements and understandings that violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab countries.

The State of Kuwait calls on all parties to exercise self-restraint, comply with international law, adhere to good neighborliness, respect international covenants and conventions, noninterference in internal affairs, and promote the resolution of all disputes and disputes by peaceful means “Peace, mercy and blessings of God.”

Somalia had submitted a request to the Arab League to hold an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of Arab foreign ministers to discuss the repercussions of concluding an illegal memorandum of understanding signed between Ethiopia and Somaliland recently. — KUNA
