KUWAIT: As part of its renewed, qualitative and unprecedented activities in the world of the hospitality industry, the 12th Kuwait Food Fair welcomed Guillaume Gomez, the personal representative for gastronomy and food of French President Emmanuel Macron.
Claire le Flecher, Ambassador of France to Kuwait, stated: “I would like to thank the organizing committee of the food exhibition for its interest in French knowhow in the field of hospitality, agri-food and culinary arts. I am very happy that the ambassador of French gastronomy and former chef of the French Presidential Palace ‘Elysée’, Guillaume Gomez, is participating in the fair.”
The presence of Gomez in Kuwait with other French chefs, such as Carlos Marsal, shows the great interest of Kuwaitis in French culinary arts and our rich bilateral exchanges in the field of gastronomy. “I am delighted to see a significant French participation in the event through the presence of a large number of producers and professional chefs. It is a unique opportunity to exchange knowhow and experiences between participants, whether they are companies or chefs. We hope that cooperation in this area between our two countries will expand to new and diverse activities in the near future,” le Flecher added.
Gomez won the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 2004, becoming the youngest winner in the history of the competition at the age of just 25. He spent 25 years at the Elysée Palace, serving four French presidents. In March 2021, Macron appointed Gomez the ambassador for gastronomy and named him his personal representative for gastronomy and the food industry. Today, Gomez tours the world promoting French cuisine and is a judge at some of the world’s top events.
