KUWAIT: Financial Crimes Police arrested an American for bringing in 'chemical' and other illicit drugs by courier. He was caught with 1,126 envelopes of chemical; $305; 40 million Iranian tomans; KD 2,165; 4,200 Chinese yuan and 3,310 Afghan rupees. The suspect confessed being a member of a gang that brings in drugs for sale. They then smuggle the money out and launder it by buying precocious stones. He was sent to concerned authorities.
21 camels stolen
Jahra detectives are hunting a thief or thieves who stole 21 camels. A security source said the theft took place in Rehaya. Also two persons stopped a Sri Lankan deliveryman and stole KD 308 from his wallet. He grabbed one of the thief's clothes, but he was pushed back and run over as they escaped.
Campaign against vendors
Jahra police carried out a campaign against vendors of unlicensed animal feed stores on Salmy road. Sixty-five violators were caught, and the municipality is preparing reports on them for legal action.
Fire Services meeting
Kuwait Fire Services Directorate and the social development office at the prime minister's diwan held a meeting to discuss cooperation in the field of training psychologists on firefighting through lectures and awareness courses.
Omariya house fire
Fire broke out in an Omariya house, prompting Farwaniya and Ardiya fire centers to respond. A family of five was rescued as the first-floor fire was fought and put out without injuries. The cause of the blaze is being investigated. In another development, fire broke out in a large building under construction in Sabah Al-Salem, prompting Mishref, Qurain, Hilali, Salmiya, technical rescue and backup fire brigades to respond. Three workers were trapped, and another was in a lift, so firemen used the second tallest ladder in the world to bring them down to safety. Fire was contained and put out without any injuries. Also, fire broke out at the ambulance station of Sabah Hospital. The fire was put out without injuries. The fire was caused due to faulty wiring.
Awareness lecture
The planning department for medical emergencies, in cooperation with KU's security and safety department, held an awareness lecture on managing crises and catastrophes by the head of planning and information Hamed Al-Otaibi and Jassim Al-Kandari.
Drunk and fighting
Eight citizens were detained in Maidan Hawally police station for being drunk and fighting in Shaab. A number of other brawlers escaped.
Bedoons arrested
Three bedoons were arrested for selling hashish in Sulaibiya. They also had an AK-47 and sums of money. They were sent to concerned authorities.
Municipality hotline 139
The municipality's director general said supervisory jobs in Kuwait governorates should be followed by directors of municipality branches and other officials. Ahmad Al-Subaih made his comments during a tour of some municipality branches to check on their work. Subaih asked all citizens and expats to cooperate with and contact the municipality's hotline 139 as soon as a mistake, violation or corruption is seen in the municipality.
Five-vehicle collision
A five-vehicle collision resulted in the injury of an Asian expat, who suffered fractures and bruises. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
