KUWAIT: Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, announced its participation in the opening ceremony of the 33rd annual conference of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students in the United States (NUKS - USA). The event was held with the presence of many national figures in San Francisco, California.
The conference, which comes under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa, witnessed the attendance of the Minister of Education's representative, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the US Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who visited Zain's booth during the careers fair. The company's Platinum sponsorship of the conference comes in line with its Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility strategy towards the youth and education sectors.
Most valuable asset
During her opening speech addressing the students, Eaman Al-Roudhan, Zain Kuwait's Chief Executive Officer, said: "we are extremely proud to be this event's main supporter for over 13 consecutive years. Our strategic partnership with this conference over the years is a testament of Zain's commitment towards the youth; our country's most valuable asset."
Roudhan continued: "your tireless efforts to make this event a success every year gives us confidence that a generation of young, ambitious innovators will lead our beloved country in the near future. Zain has long considered the support and development of youth as a main priority, especially in the areas of technological innovation and entrepreneurship."
During her speech, Roudhan also announced the launch of a new annual program to empower and support Kuwaiti entrepreneurs studying in the US. The program will include a competition that will receive and evaluate their projects and small businesses in the areas of technological innovation. The winner will receive a two to four-week paid trip prize to Zain's strategic partners who are technology innovators, including Cisco, Ericsson E&Y, and Huawei. This year's competition will be in partnership with Huawei, where they will host the winner in their main headquarters in China for an amazing internship program.
Private sector's role
Roudhan concluded: "we at Zain strongly believe in the role of the private sector in supporting the efforts and plans of the public sector to bring positive change into our everyday lives, especially efforts that empower innovative ideas. Zain has adopted many programs and initiatives to empower and support the youth's innovative ideas through the years."
Zain's presence in the event conveys its enthusiasm to interact with the future generations of Kuwaiti youth, especially those who pursue their education abroad, as the NUKS - USA conference is one of the largest gatherings of Kuwaiti students outside of Kuwait.
Participating in this event affirms Zain's role as a leading national company that takes the development of young people seriously, with the ultimate intention to induce positive change within the Kuwaiti society.
