KUWAIT: A police officer at Ardhiya police station recently filed a case accusing a female citizen of insulting an officer on duty, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a female citizen went to the station to report a hit and run accident. But the police officer on duty refused to take the report, instead telling the women to go home and put on something "decent" and then come back. Instead, the woman swapped her clothes with those of her sister's inside the police station toilet and went back to the officer's office saying that she had already changed her clothes. Shocked by how fast she came back, the officer asked how she did it and harshly scolded her for changing at the police station. The woman responded back, allegedly insulting the officer. A case was filed and further investigations are in progress.

American dies in Mahboula

A US citizen was recently killed when he fell from the second floor of a Mahboula building, said security sources noting that the building janitor reported the presence of a body of one of the tenants in the building yard. Arriving to the scene and checking the apartment, policemen found two of the deceased's friends inside and both seemed very confused. The body was removed by forensic medicine and the two friends were detained pending further investigations.

Suspicious restaurant death

A 58-year-old citizen died while dining in a Hawally restaurant, said security sources, noting that on receiving a report from the restaurant manager, policemen rushed to the scene and detained a woman in her forties who was dining with the deceased pending further investigations to determine the cause of death.

Police patrol flips over

A weapon inspection policeman recently sustained spinal fractures when he lost control over his patrol vehicle and it flipped and rolled along Al-Ghouss street in Adan area, said security sources adding that the policeman was on a mission when a vehicle driven by a woman swerved and forced him off the road. The policemen was rushed to Adan hospital in critical condition while his colleagues carried on with the mission and managed to seize a number of unlicensed weapons.

Stabbing in Jahra

A non-Kuwaiti man recently stabbed a citizen in Jahra when they fought on winning the friendship of a transvestite, said security sources. Case papers indicate that the investigation officer at Jahra hospital reported that a citizen in a critical condition was rushed to the hospital's ICU due after being stabbed with a sharp object. Investigations showed that he fled the scene but was later on identified and arrested. His nationality was not reported.

Bedoon knocks down officer

A bedoon man, wanted for five cases, was recently arrested after he knocked off a traffic policeman along Fahaheel expressway, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a police patrol had spotted the suspect's vehicle being driven without license plates. On stopping him and asking for his ID, the suspect drove off knocking the policeman down and hitting four other vehicles in his attempt to escape. However, the suspected was chased and arrested along the fifth ring road and on checking his ID, detectives found that he was bedoon and that he was already wanted for five cases and banned from travelling. A case was filed.

Suicide attempt

A citizen detained at Nugra police station recently tried to commit suicide by cutting his own veins and throat, said security sources noting that the man, who had been arrested for some financial claims, broke a lamp in the detention cell and used its glass in the attempt before policemen saw him and managed to prevent the man doing himself harm. The suspect kept shouting that he would repeat the attempt unless he was released.

Weapons arrest

A citizen was recently arrested at his family house in Saad Al-Abdullah area in possession of an AK-47 rifle, two shotguns and ammunition that he used to threaten his own family members, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a female citizen called the police to report that her husband had been threatening her and their children with guns. The woman provided the police with the address and a force was dispatched to the scene where, after 40 minutes of negotiations, they managed to talk the husband out of harming his family. The weapons were confiscated and the man, who seemed mentally disordered, was referred to relevant authorities.

Truffle thieves caught

Four citizens were recently arrested for trespassing into a Subbiya conservation and digging out truffles there, said security sources noting that the nature reserve guards reported spotting the trespassers and a police patrol rushed to the scene and arrested them.

Drunk driver

A citizen recently handed his own driver to Al-Zahra area police station while the employee was heavily drunk, said security sources. The driver was arrested and a case was filed. - Al-Rai, Al-Anbaa
