KUWAIT: Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar said on Sunday that his meetings with Kuwaiti officials tackled efforts to expand economic, cultural and scientific cooperation. The meetings were also a good opportunity to update Kuwait officials on the situation in Tunisia and the challenges facing the North African nation, Ammar said in an interview with KUNA before concluding his one-day official visit to Kuwait. He reiterated that Tunisian-Kuwaiti relations are solid and based on shared visions, especially in foreign policy.
Tunisian and Kuwaiti foreign policies focus on finding peaceful solutions to crises and take into consideration the humanitarian aspects of any conflict, he said. On the Kuwaiti investments in Tunisia, Minister Ammar said his country is keen on creating an investment-attractive environment for all, especially for Kuwaiti investors and is determined to reform laws to increase foreign investments. Regarding his country’s vision of the situation in the region, especially Libya and Sudan, Ammar emphasized that Tunisia seeks to bring the views of the conflicting parties closer and backs reconciliation efforts to restore stability in these two brotherly countries.
During his visit to Kuwait, Minister Ammar met Speaker of Kuwait’s National Assembly Ahmed Al-Saadoun, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and several state officials. Meanwhile, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) said on Sunday it is seeking to boost economic relations with Tunisian businesspeople. Highlighting the need for more communication between the private sectors in both countries, the Chamber’s Vice Chairman Fahad Al-Jouan, affirmed in a statement that strength of Kuwaiti-Tunisian relations, pointing to the Chamber’s aspiration to further them in terms of investment opportunities.
Al-Jouan’s remarks came while receiving Tunisian Minister Nabil Ammar, Tunisian Ambassador to Kuwait Al-Hashimi Ajeeli, and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Tunisia Mansour Al-Omar. Al-Jouan also voiced the Chamber’s readiness to arrange such meetings with any visiting Tunisian economic delegation. Minister Ammar underlined the importance of Kuwait’s investments as "they have been present for decades and had a pioneering role in the Tunisian economy,” stressing the need to explore new economic ventures and expertise. – KUNA
