Traditional herbs are popular in Kuwait and can be found in many local souqs and markets. Some are used for medicinal purposes and others for cooking, for tea or scenting homes. In Souq Al Mubarakiya, one can find shops selling dried flowers, herbs and plants including fennel, basil, oregano, garlic, onion and ginger as well as rarer herbal mixtures.
Though there is little scientific evidence demonstrating the efficacy of herbal medicines, many traditionalists believe in the healing powers of herbs and spices.
