KUWAIT, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- A thunderstorm ravaged the country early on Wednesday, leading to the suspension of schools and universities and flooding in some areas and roads.

The Interior Ministry cautioned road users from the possible continuation of the thunderstorm till this evening.

It called on people in Kuwait to contact the police and fire directorate's emergency teams on the 112 hotline and the 24820201, and 24820205 direct lines.

Officials from Kuwait University and the Ministry of Education released statements regarding the suspension of studies at schools and universities due to the bad weather conditions.

The measure also took into consideration the safety of students and teaching staff in educational facilities.

Meanwhile, air traffic went back to normal at Kuwait International Airport after two flights were diverted to Damam International Airport as the thunderstorm was raging early today.

The weather forecast in Kuwait indicated the possibility of more thunderous weather and heavy rain this evening with wind speed reaching 50 kilometers per hour.

The conditions at sea will see waves possibly reaching three to six meters during the evening
