Thousands arrested as police raid Farwaniya Governorate


KUWAIT: Security authorities carried out a campaign in Farwaniya Governorate led by Interior Ministry Undersecretary Suleiman Al-Fahad, Assistant Undersecretary for General Secretary Major General Abdelfattah Al-Ali and Assistant Undersecretary for Operations Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh. Police closed Khaitan surroundings from 5 am to 7 am.

Lt General Al-Fahad deployed the teams across the streets. Some suspicious places were also raided. Papers of 3,548 persons were checked. 1,170 were sent for deportation; seven are wanted on felony cases; 52 wanted on civil cases; 117 were arrested for residency law violation.

Also 255 absconders were detained and 269 people did not have their papers on them. 218 had expired residencies. Two persons were arrested for trading liquor and 12 were arrested for vice offences. 2,378 persons were later released after their documents were cross-checked.
