KUWAIT: A Nepalese man was killed in Mangaf, said security sources, noting that detectives received a report about the man who had been stabbed in the chest. A case was filed and further investigations are in progress.
Policeman jailed
The criminal court yesterday sentenced a police officer, a criminal investigator, to four years in jail plus dismissal from his post over charges of forging documents related to liquor smuggling at the airport.
Restriction of freedom
A Kuwaiti woman wanted by the civil sentences implementation department accused four persons working for the interior ministry of restricting her freedom, being harsh and urging her to commit immoral acts, Al-Rai reported yesterday. The citizen went through legal procedures with the policemen, but was released. She then went to Zour police station where she claimed that she was stopped at a checkpoint near a park south of the country, then when they found out she is wanted, they wanted her to commit immoral acts and restricted her freedom. A police source said the investigator was informed of her claims, so charges were made against the four and they were summoned for questioning. In a separate case, a Kuwaiti woman lodged a complaint against a compatriot who harassed her in the parking lot of a private hospital. The woman made a phone call to police, who arrived to the scene and arrested him.
Café fight
Policemen broke up a fight between three girls in a café, and all those involved were taken to the police station, where it was found the reason behind the fight was gossiping, reported Al-Rai. Policemen responded to a call about the fight that included insults and threats. The three were sent to concerned authorities for further legal action.
Smuggling foiled
Abdaly customs officers foiled an attempt to smuggle 140,000 Captagon tablets a Saudi driver had hidden in the exhaust of the bus he was driving from Iraq, Al-Rai reported. He was sent to concerned authorities. A customs source said Deputy Director General for Border Affairs Sheikh Faisal Al-Sabah was at hand as the suspect was referred to the Drugs Control General Department.
