KUWAIT: Commerce and Industry Minister Khaled Al-Roudhan issued six decisions to suspend the licenses of six insurance companies for three months or until the violation is removed, whichever is earlier. The companies are: Ain Takaful, Aman Takaful, Ghazal Takaful, Dar Al-Salem Takaful, Kuwait-Qatar Takaful and Ilaf Takaful. The decisions stipulated that insurance policies issued by the said companies before the suspension remain valid, while the companies will continue payments and compensations due on them. Meanwhile, informed sources said some companies that were threatened to be suspended by the commerce and industry ministry rectified their status, while others where on sound grounds.
KD 17 million in dues
The communications ministry said it has collected KD 17 million in ministry dues. It said most of the debt was accumulated on active and inactive phones for years. The ministry said it formed a committee to collect debt due to the ministry, whether from ministry employees, companies or individuals. It said the committee worked in coordination with concerned ministries such as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Public Authority for Civil Information, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Justice Ministry to obtain subscribers' data who did not pay their subscription fees. The ministry said debts recorded on disconnected lines will remain until they are paid in full, even if tens of years pass.
Airport projects
Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Housing Affairs Jenan Bushehri decided to move the contracts and agreements of airport projects to the mega projects sector. The decision retained senior specialist engineer Faisal Al-Ustath as engineer of contracts and agreements of the airport project (Terminal 2). The decision stipulated that all procedures, correspondence and transactions of the said projects should be directly between the contract engineer and assistant undersecretary for the mega projects sector Hussam Al-Tahous.
