Berlin: German police announced Tuesday that two people were seriously injured in a shooting spree near an elementary school in Bramasche, in the state of Lower Saxony in the northwest of the country.

The injured, aged 16 and 81, were taken to hospital and are in critical condition,the police said in a statement, underscoring that the school or its students were not endangered.

The shooting took place this morning, according to the statement.
