There is a challenge between traditional media and modernization: Minister
KUWAIT: Sheikh Mubarak Al-Hamad Journalism Excellence Award's higher committee concluded the eleventh edition's activities with a grand ceremony honoring the prizewinners on Tuesday at JW Marriot Hotel. The event was attended by representative of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad A-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled stressed the keenness of His Highness the Prime Minister on the importance of youth in this competition, because they are the starting point for the future. "The competition is witnessing remarkable development, as this year the competition included participants from GCC countries. This step is well thought out, positive and valuable, and we hope to involve Arab youth in the future," he said. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled pointed out there is a challenge between traditional media and modernization, adding that this competition is an opportunity for young people to benefit from the experiences and participation of media organizations.
Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Sabah thanked the prime minister for his continuous support to Arab media and his keenness to enhance the role of media institutions in the service of society and the performance of its mission, particularly KUNA. He expressed his congratulations to the winners of the eleventh edition of this competition and wished them continued success. He pointed out that KUNA was honored to embrace and support this competition since its first edition, stressing the continuation of this cooperation in appreciation of its noble objectives and its great impact on the media in the Arab world.
Winners' list
In the press report (youth category), the winner from the GCC youth group was from an Omani newspaper, Khalsa Al-Shybani. The second place went to Faisal Al-Rashidi from the best Kuwaiti youth news magazine from KUNA, and in the third place was Shahd Kamal from KUNA.
In the investigation category, Youssef Al-Mutairi of Al-Qabas newspaper won the first prize, Mai Sokari from Al-Qabas was second and Mohammad Al-Enzi from KUNA third. The first place in the journalistic interview category went to Rana Salem from Al-Seyassah newspaper, Mohammed Ghazi from Al-Jarida newspaper was second, and the third place was for Musa Diab from KUNA.
In the journalistic reports category, the winner was Mohammed Ahmed from Annahar newspaper, the second was Fawaz Karami from KUNA, and Mohamed Awada from Al-Anbaa newspaper came third. In the photography category, Yasser Al-Zayyat from Kuwait Times won first place, Hosni Ahmed from Al-Qabas stood second, while Asaad Abdullah from Al-Rai newspaper came third.
In the investigation (youth category), Fawaz Al-Otaibi of KUNA won first place, Monira Al-Rabia from KUNA was second, and Khaled Al-Ajmi from KUNA was third. In the interview (youth category), Nasser Al-Husayni from Al-Rai won, Abdullah Al-Misri from KUNA came second and Abdulaziz Al-Majran won the third place.
The winner in the journalistic reports (youth category) was Khaled Al-Mutairi from KUNA, Faisal Al-Rashidi from KUNA came in second, while Shehad Kamal from KUNA stood third. In the audiovisual section of the youth category, Bibi Al-Khadoury from the electronic Qabas newspaper won first place.
Ahmed Al-Farhan won in the best broadcaster category, with Ali Al-Qatami from Al-Shahed newspaper second and Al-Jaber Al-Saidi third. In the category of caricatures for the youth category, Mohamed Al-Mashmoum from Al-Erada won first place, the second was Mona Tamimi from Fernas newspaper and the third went to Mohammed Al-Obaidi from Al-Ghad newspaper.
