ALGIERS: HH the Amir's Representative, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's attendance of the Arab Summit left a "positive impact" amongst Algerian and Arab officials, Kuwait Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah said on Thursday. At the pre-summit talks, Kuwait took part in several discussions that will result in a "positive outcome for Arabs", the minister told reporters after the summit's conclusion, praising fellow Arab ministers who were in attendance.
On the level of summit attendance, he said it was "good and exceptional" amidst a "positive atmosphere", the outcome of which was "complete consensus". The summit gained importance, being the first held in the last three years, under threatening fast-paced circumstances and which gave leaders the chance to hold engaging discussions, Sheikh Salem said. The results of the talks urged the need for collaboration on national security and on tackling foreign intervention, along with cooperation on economic fronts in food, medicine and energy industries alongside proposed reforms to the mechanisms of the Arab League.
The foreign minister applauded the talks as "successful", saying the "Algerians deserve praise". On the Palestinian crisis, he said it remains the central issue for Arabs and Kuwait, saying these nations are keen to continue pushing for Palestine to be granted full United Nations membership. He added that there will be upcoming activities illustrating support for the Palestinians. - KUNA
