KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior announced Tuesday that their criminal security teams from the General Administration for Drug Control had thwarted an attempt to smuggle 25 kilograms of hashish into the country through one of the country's land ports. The ministry's Relations and Security Media Department stated in a press statement that ministry teams received information indicating an attempt to bring narcotic substances through land borders.
Security forces immediately formed an investigation team, which collected data and later confirmed the validity of the information received, the statement said. The ministry added that legal permission was obtained and coordinated with the General Administration of Customs, and "upon the arrival of the suspect at the port, he was seized and the vehicle searched, including the finding of 25 kilograms of narcotic hashish substance was found hidden in the spare tire and the interior of the vehicle," the statement noted.
The ministry stated, "after confronting the suspect with the information he acknowledged and confessed that he used to bring narcotic substances for the purpose of trafficking. The statement said the "suspect and the findings were referred to the General Administration for Drug Control to take legal measures against him and refer him to the competent authorities." - KUNA
