KUWAIT: Jleeb Al-Shuyiukh detectives stormed what they described as a 'thieves' market' in the area, where a number of Asian street vendors had returned to sell their merchandise after security forces had been stopping them for months, said security sources, noting that scores of Asian peddlers fled on seeing the police, leaving their goods behind. The sources added that detectives confiscated all the foodstuff and vegetables and gave them to charities.
Guard assaulted
An Asian camp guard in Salmi filed a case against four of his sponsor's friends, accusing them of assaulting him when they came to the camp in the absence of the owner and asked him to start the generator, which he refused until checking with his boss.
Harassment charges
A female citizen in her forties accused an Egyptian man working at a mobile phone workshop of harassing her by making repeated calls after she took her mobile to his shop to be repaired. The man, on the other hand, stressed that he had called only to inform her that the phone was fixed and ready. A case was filed and further investigations are in progress.
Drunk driving
A citizen was arrested in Salmiya driving while heavily drunk, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a police patrol noticed that the suspect was not in full control of his vehicle and on stopping him and asking to see his ID, he insulted the policemen and refused to show it. The man is facing charges of driving under the effect of alcohol and insulting a public servant on duty.
Store robbed
An Asian grocer in Fintas reported that an unidentified robber assaulted him and stole KD 200 in cash, in addition to a telecom company machine. A case was filed and further investigations are in progress.
Girl hospitalized
A citizen was arrested for brutally assaulting a bedoon girl in the parking lot of Adan Hospital, said security sources, noting that passersby informed the police about the assault. The girl was rushed to the hospital for treatment and the assaulter was arrested pending further investigations.
