Cairo: At least 19 people were killed and six others injured in a traffic accident in Dakahlia Governorate in northern Egypt on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Health.
The tragedy took place when the minibus they were travelling in overturned in a ditch in Dakahlia, which is 110 kilometers northeast of the capital city, Cairo, the ministry said in a press statement.
Eighteen ambulances rushed to the site and took the injured to nearby hospitals, the ministry added.
Traffic accidents are common in Egypt mainly due to poorly maintained roads and over-speeding.
