It is possible to get acquainted with the cultures and customs of other people without actually visiting that country in person. Reading a book takes you in an in-depth journey to places, adventures or a pleasant trip to one of our world's corners regardless if it is fiction or non-fiction.

Your brain will crank its engine and move its wheels towards learning and understanding. I am one who still believes in books, because having a paperback or hardback in your hands gives you the privilege to read a line once, twice or three times until you really digest what is written. You can write notes on the margins too.

I know some of you may say what is this man is talking about, as technological advances brought everything to the palm of one's hand on the small screen! There may be some merit to this claim, but a book gives you the opportunity to designate a certain area of your house and allocate an hour or two to read without being interrupted to exercise your brain and engage your imagination for that period of time. It's much better for that corner to be free from phones, radios, TVs and other distractions. Reading a book can have its own rituals and sanctity.

Reading in general helps to improve writing skills and enhances the ability to analyze, including political and economic analyses. Reading gives the ability to the brain to understand events and link them together and create ideas to resolve many issues a human may go through.
Reading, as several studies have shown, works as a motivator for the brain and helps delay the onset of Alzheimer's. One will not be able to improve their speaking skills without reading, as the vocabulary can be enriched and the use of each word at its best can be learned and developed.

Reading augments the ability to concentrate, instead of having your concentration scattered between various applications, social media, TV and other distractions, because once you start reading, you will get involved with the story to understand and analyze what is in it.
It is very helpful to read various subjects to increase your knowledge and add to the subject of your interest, especially at work. Finally, it is significant that the message of Islam started with the word "Read", and this proves that reading is something of great significance to humanity.
