KUWAIT: Thetechnical ministerial committee formed by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW)excluded 19 out of 20 companies qualified to take part in road projects, saidinformed sources, noting that the excluded companies had been qualified despiteviolating the conditions Central Agency for Public Tenders published in theofficial gazette.

The sourcesdenied excluding national elements from the qualification committee and replacingthem by expats, explaining that a number of Kuwaitis who had been nominated forthe committee withdrew because it involved working in outdoor sites and theshort tenure of the committee (two weeks), so well-experienced specializedexpats were selected for the committee. The sources added that therecommendations made by the committee - comprising of 13 members, mostlyKuwaitis - confirmed the report made by the previous committee formed by formerminister Hossam Al-Roumi.

The NationalAssembly's secretariat general stressed that a parliamentary requestcirculating on social media about investigating an incident related to a femaleKuwaiti media figure is completely untrue. The secretariat general stronglydenied reports claiming that a number of lawmakers filed a request to form aninvestigation committee in this regard, stressing that the circulated requestis fake.

20 professions

The PublicAuthority for Manpower's public relations manager Aseel Al-Mezyad said theauthority is currently working on setting tests for 20 different professions.Mezyad said her small team of only 11 employees had bagged many achievements in2018, including launching various awareness campaigns, publishing a brochure inseven different languages for expats working in Kuwait, e-connection withvarious government bodies and responding to over 2,412 inquiries andcomplaints. She added that many diplomats designated in Kuwait have hailed theservices provided by the expat labor shelter.

The Civil ServiceCommission (CSC) is currently preparing to declare a new batch of nominees towork in government bodies, as Kuwaitis seeking job opportunities can follow uptheir applications online on the commission's website. Meanwhile, officialsources at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said the CSC had approvedpaying shift allowances to 182 navigators working at Kuwait airport air controltower and radar center, noting that the allowances will vary between KD 120 andKD 260.
